Dr Simon Thompson is a Medical Doctor, General Adult Psychiatrist and Life Coach specialising in ADHD, mood disorders, addictions (drugs, alcohol and gambling).
He is also an expert in the field of Trauma and PTSD, with an established practice treating Military, Veterans and Emergency personnel.
Simon is an evaluator and advisor to the US Government (Department of Defense) and UK Government Agencies.
Following a career in the military, and having worked as a commercial pilot and diver, Simon graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 2010. He went on to train in Psychiatry at Southwest London and St George’s Mental Health Trust and at Broadmoor Secure Hospital, and practices as a Consultant and Associate Specialist in the NHS, private and charity sectors.
He is regarded as an exceptionally empathic and straight-speaking doctor, with a sound grasp of current psychotherapies and psychiatric treatment.
As an occupational psychiatrist, Simon is passionate about the patient’s recovery and wellbeing, and he provides considered diagnoses and treatment plans. His experience in general adult psychiatry is wide ranging and includes: mood disorders, forensics, sports psychiatry, addictions, adult and adolescent ADHD and ASD.
Over recent years, Simon has developed a leading role in the treatment of psychological trauma and PTSD, especially with military veterans and emergency service personnel, and in the difficult area of sexual assault.
Simon maintains an appointment to the Veterans Evaluation Service (part of the US Dept of Defense) and as an advisor and clinician to other British and American Government Agencies.
He is the co-founder and current Medical Director of the charity, PentUp, which uses the sport of Modern Pentathlon to support military veterans recovering from PTSD.
Dr Thompson lives with his two daughters in Surrey. In his spare time Simon is studying for a MA in Law in medical ethics and war crimes at the University of Law in London.
